How do I upload a large file via FTP?

The greatest FTP upload/download size is 5GB, above which you'll have to use another strategy to exchange larger file  sizes.

One way we'd prescribe is to enable SSH activity and after that use a customer like WinSCP to upload over SSH. There are no restrictions for this situation.
